Goal = Finishing Projects

With several projects in the works, I am focusing on finishing a few before I start my next project (stay tuned for Monday’s new project!).  This week, I spent several nights to get the Surround Caterpillar Quilt quilted.  I haven’t worked on it since March, so it was fun to finish up the top and use free motion quilting.  Although it is still in need of some orange binding, here is the progress.

Quilted and Ready for Binding

My eight week Monday night course flew by!  I can not believe that we are on week 8 and I have a (nearly) finished quilt.  This weekend I spent quilting my and exploring various designs to enhance each block.  I only have a few steps left: hanging sleeve, binding, and label.

Hooked on Free Motion

After practicing on the runner, I quilted the Whirly Wheels Quilt using the free motion technique.  It was a blast and it went so quickly!  I spent more time stabilizing the quilt around each block than I did “doodling” on my quilt.  This quilt was overall a fun experience with lots of firsts — first Moda Bake Shop recipe, first experimentation of color, and best of all, the first of many free motion quilting projects.
