I was able to work on two quilts this week from past quilt alongs: Jelly Roll Quilt Along and Sliced Coin Quilt Along. In both cases, I am at the point that is the most laborious, the binding phase. This is where I need your help, below is one of my Jelly Roll Quilt Along quilts. With all of the colors in the quilt, what do you suggest for a binding color? (Thanks in advance!)
Although there haven’t been many updates, here my Works in Progress for this week:
Lee from Freshly Pieced Blog is hosting the Work-In-Progress Wednesday Link-Up. Check out the WIP’s!
When Dunder was younger, he chewed everything! One day I came home and the entire zipper of his LL Bean dog bed was gone. He completely destroyed it and ate the evidence. Luckily, he was okay and no vet bills were involved – phew! Thankfully, he is now past that stage. We never bought him a new bed and since there was no zipper, the pillow form was always half hanging out of the bed cover. To restore his bed, I recycled my old jeans by cutting the ‘legs’ into fabric strips. With a sturdy back stitch, I made about two yards of pieced “jean” fabric. Then, I cut this fabric to make a big pillow cover. He loves it!
With no new fabric in over a month, one would think that I was sewing away with my stash. However, since I was on vacation, I only put a dent into the stash by creating a bed for Dunder from over two yards of old denim jeans (come back to my blog tomorrow for more details) and 1/4 yard of orange fabric for the binding on the Sliced Coin Quilt Along quilt.
I am hoping that I will continue to use the fabric that I have already purchased for future projects; however, I just discovered a new line coming out in April! It is Animal Party Too by Amy Schimler. Ryan Walsh has a give-away! Check it out on the Ryan Walsh Quilts blog.
Check out others to see if they are making a dent into their stashs with the Sunday Stash Report, hosted by Judy of Patchwork Times.
My husband and I went on a vacation. It was a long time without my sewing machine; however, I am now back to sewing — and blogging too! This is a quick post to play catch up!
Here is one of many pictures from our Caribbean cruise. In this picture, we were in Belize. With more cold weather in the forecast for Philly, I am ready to go back!
Over the past couple of days, I was able to quilt the Sliced Coin Quilt Along quilt with a tight stipple. Now, the binding remains with the hand sewing.
Since I didn’t have a chance to announce the winner my 1 Year of Blogging Giveaway before leaving on vacation, congrats to A.J. Dub from Harriet Homemaker Strikes Again blog.
Lastly, Lee from Freshly Pieced Blog is hosting a Supernova Quilt Along. She just posted the fabric requirements.
Now, I have a lot of blog reading catch up to do!
