Game Quilt

When you combine a quilt and a game, you get a Game Quilt. This quilt was made for my six year old cousin in Florida.  Florida doesn’t really have the climate to utilize quilts, but at least the game can used year round.

My original inspiration was AnneMarie’s Twister Inspired Quilt from the Gen X Quilters Blog.  I made one last year by truly appliqueing each circle {Link}.  For this quilt, I used raw edge quilting, where the edges will fray for a distressed look after washing.  I still used 12.5 inch squares — which was easy to cut with my 12.5 inch square ruler.  Rather than using my typical meandering stipple, I quilted on the diagonal of each block with a walking foot.

We just came back from vacation.  See the nice pool in the picture?  This is where Little Jimmy (and Dunder Dog too) enjoyed some fun swim time!  No quilting was accomplished over the past week; however, I have the next two days with some major sewing plans.

  1. LOL – the quilts we both entered in the linky party are “twister” quilts, but yours is about the Twister Game, and mine is about the Twister Tool. That’s cute!!! I love your quilt! The colors are so bright and happy, just like the game. I just bought that game for my 8-year-old granddaughter’s birthday last month.

  2. Sweet little boy and what a fun quilt..they may need to cuddle up in it while in that cold A/C in their house;)

  3. Very fun quilt! It looks a lot less slippery than a regular Twister mat!
