Block 3 of 16

Three down, Thirteen to go for the 2011 Bloggers; Block-A-Palooza Quilt Along.  This block was designed by Amanda Sasikirana from sasikirana handmade with a mix between shoofly and flying geese.  It was a tad teedious using just triangles for flying geese; however, the result was worth it!

Block Two: Thankful for My Decoder

Block 2 of the 2011 Bloggers; Block-A-Palooza Quilt Along is complete:

I just realized that there are 16 blocks in this quilt-a-long.  I still have 14 more blocks to go to try to stay on track.  Block two was just posted yesterday by Elizabeth Hartman from Oh, Fransson! blog.  Similar to Elizabeth’s awesome tutorials on her blog, the instructions and level of detail she provided for this block was great.  She included a whole section with color variations and a key to ensure proper placement of each block. With the five different fabrics, I had to make my own key out of fabric scraps and double sided tape.  If you are participating in the 2011 Bloggers; Block-A-Palooza Quilt Along, I would really recommend creating a key too!

Soul Blossoms Bundle for New York Beauty Class

Throughout the month of January, I will be a busy quilter with a New York Beauty class.  The class starts Monday.  It is a four session class based on foundation pieced squares with distinct points and curves.  The fabric that I will be using is Amy Butler’s new line: Soul Blossoms.  I have a fat quarter bundle that I will use for my upcoming New York Beauty class and the 2011 Bloggers’ Block-A-Palozza, which starts on January 24th.  I will be counting down the days until spring with these bright floral patterns!
