Book Report: Material Obsession

For the January meeting of the Philly Modern Quilt Guild, we had a book review night with our favorite quilt books.  Books ranged from detailed visuals for quilting basics, machine quilting, sewing projects, and three different books based on really creative Japanese quilts.

The two books that I shared with the guild are by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fiekle.  They are Material Obsession and Material Obsession 2.  The books have very detailed instructions and have full pictures of the final quilts.  I am going to be doing a large pineapple quilt, which was one of my quilting goals for the year.  I have enjoyed their books so much, I now follow their blog.

One of the books that I got to preview last night was Elizabeth Hartman’s new book, The Practical Guide to Patchwork: New Basics for the Modern Quilter.  There is a quilt that I can’t wait to start — Kitchen Windows!

What are your favorite quilting books?
